Arrived Hawaii!

My long 20 hour trip from Miami to Hawaii was rewarded with a warm aloha welcome!

Here is a brief overview of my dream and purpose for a Hawaiian Dolphin Ocean Birth!

1. Why do you want to give birth with the dolphins?
The brief overview:

To have the most natural, hands off birth possible in/with nature. To connect with myself, my baby, the ocean, the marine life, (especially dolphins) and unite as one allowing for a magical gentle birth for Willow with the least amount of interventions. Also, To be able to bring back an ancient tradition that has not been practiced for many many years.

2. What is your purpose in documenting this?
For a year now, I have been dreaming of putting together a documentary that will document ancient cultural births around the world. Showing the difference between birth in the United States/western culture and the rest of the world. How ancient traditions are still used to comfort, empower and nurture the pregnant mom and new baby throughout pregnancy and birth. The celebration, the spiritual aspect, the nature connection, natural birth…

When I found out I was pregnant with my second, I first thought I would show my birth live. I envisioned a homebirth, outside in nature, or maybe a beach birth. I wanted to show it live in order to build the excitement and awareness of a natural home birth. To allow every man, woman, child to view a natural home birth. To see the difference between, hospital births, births with interventions, medications, and mommy and baby separation. So many women are afraid of birth, they believe it will be the most scary and painful experience in their life. They believe the hospital is the safest place to birth. They have lost belief in their body. Birth is so much more than a “painful scary” experience. Birth can be a pleasurable, euphoric, empowering experience. Natural birth allows for the healthiest outcome for mom and baby. As I continued visioning my birth I asked myself, “Why don’t I start the documentary with my own birth? I can choose anywhere in the world, any culture that continues to use ancient traditions for pregnant moms and their births.” And this documentary was born. I was going to go to Peru and birth in the Mountains with a Shaman midwife but I had a vision that deterred me from that. In my vision I was birthing outside, in the water, with mountains surrounding. In Peru it was going to be winter and not really suitable for an outside water birth, or not as enjoyable as I imagined. Also my good friend who was going to be with me decided she was called to stay in Miami. As I sat on it, debating do I still go to Peru, another friend asked me about birthing with the dolphins. I had never heard of it and was extremely excited to learn more. It sounded unbelievable and amazing. I had an instant feeling this is what I want to do. So I did some research and found that it had been a common practice in Hawaii until the mid 1930’s and has been basically abandoned since then. But there were people in Hawaii trying to bring it back. I contacted them and told them I wanted to birth with the dolphins and film a documentary about it. They were extremely open and so supportive. I knew instantly this was the right path and since then everything has just fallen into place. And I am not the only woman interested in birthing with the dolphins again! There are 2 other moms who are due before me!

I will be posting often so subscribe to keep updated!

As of now there is no place to give birth with wild dolphins. there may be places with captive dolphins. i just went swimming in the open bay and made a plan on how it could possibly work. my midwives were on board and i had support. im sure it can happen, all the logistics need to be in place first, a game plan that you and your team are comfortable with
